Apple Wins Patent Case against Samsung

A US federal jury in California determined this Friday that Samsung Electronics infringed six Apple Inc.'s patents for mobile devices and that Apple did not infringe any of the five patents on which Samsung had countersued.

According to this verdict the losing company will have to pay Apple $1.05 billion in damages.

Judge Lucy Koh, who presided over the four-week trial, scheduled a hearing next month to consider Apple's request to ban US sales of Samsung devices in which the patents are being infringed.

Facebook Shows in a Map the Amount of Friendships Between Countries

Due to the worldwide popularity of the social network, a good way to measure the link between two countries is by considering the amount of Facebook friendships between their populations. With this in mind, Facebook has published today an interactive map that deals with this issue.

The map allows viewers to click in a country and see the five nations that are more connected to it. Besides, at its lower part, there is a section called “A closer look,” that offers a selection of historical, economic, and linguistic reasons of the connection between certain countries.

In an analysis article below the map, researcher Mia Newmantells us that the strongest links binding these Facebook neighbors are immigration, trade, and the linguistic, cultural, and economic ties created by former colonizations.

How to choose a good DOMAIN NAME

Below, I've listed 12 tips I find indispensable when helping people select a great domain name.

Brainstorm 5 Top Keywords

When you first begin your domain name search, it helps to have 5 terms or phrases in mind that best describe the domain you're seeking. Once you have this list, you can start to pair them or add prefixes & suffixes to create good domain ideas. For example, if you're launching a mortgage related domain, you might start with words like "mortage, finance, home equity, interest rate, house payment" then play around until you can find a good match.

Make the Domain Unique

Having your website confused with a popular site already owned by someone else is a recipe for disaster. Thus, I never choose domains that are simply the plural, hyphenated or misspelled version of an already established domain. I still believe that Flickr desperately needs to buy Flicker.com - I hear kids in their 20's tell parents in their 40's and 50's to see photos on Flickr and always envision that traffic going straight to the wrong domain.

TOPICS AGAINST GOOGLE ADSENSE POLICIES

Nowadays, specially in Asia.Google has banned many adsense account due to many reasins. one of the probability for banning those accounts may be illegal contents or articles against  adsense policies.

Sometimes, Google AdSense rejects a site outright. This happens due to inadequate or inappropriate content mostly. And sometimes, Google AdSense accounts get disapproved or banned after approval. This could either be due to malicious behavior, such as click fraud, or it could be because the publisher added some inappropriate content that wasn't present at the time of approval. In any case, it is important that you know what exactly Google AdSense classifies as "inappropriate", so that you can stop publishing such content before even starting

USE OF TECHNOLOGY IN CRICKET

Over the years cricket has incorporated into the game a few of the technological advances available. There have been some rejections of technology, such as the use of aluminum cricket bats, but generally the ICC have been rightly cautious about making changes to the game that will impact the players and spectators. Here are discussions about a few of the technological innovations that are in cricket or are being discussed about being included.

Third Umpire

In international cricket, the third umpire has been used to supplement the role of the two umpires on the ground. The third umpire is equally qualified, and sits off the ground with access to TV replays of certain situations (such as disputed catches and boundaries) to advise the central umpires. The umpires out on the field are in communication via wireless technology with the other umpire. The third umpire is also asked to adjudicate on run out decisions, which he makes without consultation with the two central umpires.

Cricket Referrals

Cricket has joined some other sports and have played around with an umpire referral system. It was first trialed in 2008 (in a Test series between Sri Lanka and India). Unlike in tennis where the challenge and referral decision is clear cut using hawke-eye technology, the cricket referral is adjudicated by the third umpire, and is open to further errors. The actual way it works may change and develop, but when it was first brought in this is how it worked.
Players are allowed to challenge decisions made by the on-field umpires, and have them referred to the TV official. For each innings of the Test, each team can challenge any decisions, though they will be limited to three unsuccessful challenges per innings. Only the batsman on the receiving end of the umpire’s original decision or the captain of the fielding side can appeal by making a “T” sign with both forearms at shoulder height. The third umpire uses the technology of the hot spot and slow motion replays at different angles to gain information and make decisions.
It all sounds great for the players and viewers at home, but the pressure is on the umpires. In reality, the process takes too long and can distract from the game. When there are challenges left near the end of an innings, players tend to make frivolous challenges on the off chance of getting a decision overturned. So there are still problems that need to be ironed out, but a great step forward for cricket.

TV Technology

  • Hawkeye - A computer system first used in 2001 for showing the path of a cricket ball. It is a commonly used and indispensable tool for cricket commentators around the world to confirm the umpires decisions. Why not let the umpires see it too?

USE:

The system was first used during a Test match between Pakistan and England at Lord's Cricket Ground, on 21 April 2001, in the TV coverage by Channel 4. Since then it has been an indispensable tool for cricket commentators around the world. It is used primarily by the majority of television networks to track the trajectory of balls in flight, mostly for analyzing leg before wicket decisions. In this case, Hawk-Eye is able to project the likely path of the ball forward, through the batsman's legs, to see if it would have hit the wicket. Currently this information is not used by the umpires to adjudicate on LBW decisions - it is only available to television viewers, although in the future it may be adopted by the third umpire. Currently the central umpire only get to see it once - and they have to make their minds up instantly.

The ball by ball tracking by the Hawk-Eye system allows the broadcasters to showcase many other features of the game, such as comparing the bowlers' speeds, spin, swing, line and length.

CRITCISM

Although Hawkeye is very accurate in measuring the actual path of a ball, when it comes to predicting the future path of the ball, such as in LBW decisions, it is not as clear. If the ball is heading to the pitch, there's no way Hawk-eye can tell if a delivery is going to skid a bit more than normal or hit a crack, bit of grass, or worn patch of the pitch. The predicted path of the ball is based on the average and expected pathway.
  • Snick-o-Meter - a very sensitive microphone located in one of the stumps, which can pick up the sound when the ball nicks the bat. This technology is only used to give television audiences more information and to show if the ball did or did not actually hit the bat. Unfortunately the umpires does not get the benefit of seeing 'snicko'.

USE:

This technology is used in televised cricket matches to graphically show the video of the ball passing the bat at the same time the audio of any sounds at the time. It is only used to give the television audience more information and to show if the ball did or did not actually hit the bat. The umpires does not get the benefit of seeing 'snicko'.
As the ball passes the bat, there can be other noises that can be confused with the ball on bat noises. The bat often hits the pads on the way through, making a sound at the same time the ball passes the bat. The sound/sound wave is purpotedly different for bat-pad and bat-ball, but this is not always clear. The shape of the recorded soundwave is the key - a short sharp sound is associated with bat on ball. The bat hitting the pads or the ground produces a flatter sound wave.
Note that the umpire does not have the benefit of the snickometer, and must instead rely on his senses of sight and hearing, as well as his own personal judgement.

New Technology

Cricket is a sport steeped in tradition. Making changes to the rules that have been in place for a long time is not taken lightly. In addition to uses of technology that are discussed above, here are a couple more ideas
  • Give the umpires some feedback about whether a front foot no ball has been made. They could have some technology which gives the umpire a beeping sound if the bowler crosses the popping crease, like in tennis for let or fault calls. This will mean that the umpire does not need to be distracted and looking down as the bowler delivers the ball, and can focus on what the batsman does.
  • This has been trailed to some degree, but every batsman should be allowed to challenge a decision if he feels that he's got a wrong one, which can then be referred to the third umpire. Viewers at home get much more information than the umpire, which only makes the umpire look incompetent. Why not change the way things are done so that the right decision is made all the time.

How To Read Your Favorite Website Offline

We cannot have an internet at each and every place. When you are on the move, and in the process of travelling, can get no Wi-Fi connection, you definitely won’t be able to access any website from your mobile, tablet or laptop. In the world these days, we are connected to the Internet almost every time of the day, be it at work or outside of work. Without a connection, it feels like there’s nothing you can do. The best way to solve this is to spend time with stuff you can do without a connection – or make your materials accessible even when you are offline.
How do you access webpages on the Internet offline from your desktop, laptop, tablet as well as your mobile phone? In this quick guide, we will show 5 ways you can.

1. Read It – Read Now, Read Later

Read it is a Chrome extension, which allows you to access saved content from your mobile and tablet after saving the files to cloud. The best thing about Read It is that it only saves clean content by stripping off all ads and non-related content, so what you get is pure content.
To use it, go to the Read It extension page on Chrome and install it. Once completed, you will see a ‘Klip Me’ icon at the top right corner of your browser bar. Now when you browse any website and want to save the content for reading later, simply click the ‘Klip Me’ button and you will see a stripped off page with only relevant content on it. Click the ‘Save’ button at the right.
Read It only saves content and not the whole website, so when you open webpages that feature many articles in one page like a blog, for instance, chances are, you will not be able to save the article you want. But, you can still save the content of your choice by highlighting any particular content including images. To do this, highlight selected content with your mouse, and click on the Klip Me button.

Read It For Web

Now if you want to access the content you saved earlier, you can open a new tab on your Chrome, and click on the ‘Klip Me’ icon. You will see all content you have previously saved for offline access. To make this content accessible on your mobile, you need to integrate Read It with your Google account so you can save all of your files in Cloud. Click the ‘Sign In’ button at the right column and proceed to allow its access with Google.
When access is granted, your files will sync to Cloud, and you can now access these saved files from anywhere by going to the Klip.me website (but you will need Internet access for the sync).

Read It For Android

Alternatively if you are using an Android phone, you can download Klip Me app from Google Play, log in with your Google account and sync. The saved files will be stored to your device, and you can now read them even when you are offline. At the time of this test, Read It is only available for Chrome browser and Android. But it still can be accessed via web at Klip.me where you will be able to push your saved content to Kindle and other ebook devices. Soon, Read It will be made available as a Safari extension so do check out the site for the latest updates.

2. Spool – Save Video And Webpages

Spool is a new startup offering you alternatives to access your saved files offline. It has not only a web application and browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox, but it also provides you with Android and iOS apps, as well as a bookmarklet so you can use the service on all browsers and mobiles. Spool also allows you to integrate your account with Dropbox so you can practically save not only web pages but other file types.
At the time of this writing, Spool is only available for Beta invite, however you can override that invite by registering with your Facebook login.

Spool For Web, IOS And Android

After registration is done, you can now head over to the Spool Tools page to install the extension for Chrome or Firefox. If you are not using either browsers, you can grab the bookmarklet and proceed to download iOS/Android apps to read your saved files offline on your mobile. The best thing about using the extension is that not only will can you save pages using the Spool icon at the top of your browser, you also have other ways to save pages: by clicking on the icon, or using a right click on a link or even on a page.
Even on some pages like Facebook, you will also see the Spool icon with options to save a link.
Making Spool Accessible While Offline
By default, after saving a page, it will be accessible via Web as well as your mobile apps with an Internet connection. To make your files accessible on your mobile while offline, open your Spool app > go to Settings > check the ‘Autodownload’ box and you would have allowed automatic download over WiFi or mobile data. The sync’ed files will be automatically saved locally in your mobile, so you can access them while offline. If you are worried about space, you can always delete these files after reading them.

3. Read It Later

Read It Later is another alternative you can use to read any web content offline. What makes Read It Later stand out is the integration with many other apps that are available on the market including Pulse and Flipboard. This makes it easier to save any content from other apps straight to Read It Later, so you can read these contents later even when you are offline. You can also import contents from Instapaper and Delicious. What makes it more interesting is the user collaboration towards making Read It Later a better product, with many external applications created by the users themselves.

Read It Later Offline

To start with, register for a Read It Later account and go to the apps page to download all the necessary tools including bookmarklet, browser extension as well as mobile apps. Read It Later is available for all browsers, as well as for mobile on iOS and Android. You can use all the tools to save files.
For offline reading, all files will sync automatically to your mobile apps so you can read them even when you are offline. However you can only read your saved content on your computer offline with a Firefox extension. To make your saved files accessible offline on your computer, install theextension for Firefox.

4. Readability

Readability is a beautiful application that is available as an extension for Chrome. It also comes with a native app for Android and iOS.
To get started, go to Readability website and register an account, then head over to the Apps pageto download the extension for your Chrome browser, as well as the app for your iOS and Android. There are also many other applications which integrate with Readability, available for download from the apps page. Like the others this app also syncs saved webpages to your mobile foor later reading even when you are offline.

5. Evernote

Perhaps there are many of us who are not aware that Evernote comes in handy for offline reading too. Evernote is known as a major note-saving application available across platforms and is also great for file-sharing and collaboration with friends and colleagues due to the free storage provided.
If you have not used it already, go to the Evernote page and register for an account. Then to make it easier for you to save a webpage content, download the Evernote Clipper or Clearly so you can save any contents easily to your Evernote. To access your saved content offline, download Evernote appsfor Android or iOS and log in with your registered account. Go to ‘Settings’, click on ‘Offline notebook’ and select any folder or file you want to make available for offline reading.
That’s it, and now whenever your Evernote syncs, it will make your selected materials available offline.

Conclusion

With these five alternatives, you can now save your web contents for reading while out fishing on a boat or if you’re flying without a connection. There are certainly many other alternatives including some paid options like Instapaper as well as other computer-only access options, but I’m sure we prefer the idea of freemiums with mobility access and great tools.

BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY INTERFACE

Introduction to Bluetooth

Wired interfaces have long dominated the connection of peripherals to computers. For many types of connections a wireless solution would be easier to handle the communication with small battery operated devices, for example to connect your mobile phone to a PC to synchronize the phone book or for headsets to listen to your favorite music.

HOW TO TRACK AND COMPARE "Site Traffic, Popularity, Statistics"

I know from myself people are obsessed with traffic, statistics, looking at other sites – tracking their stats and so on. And if there is enough demand, of course there are sites to satisfy You. I wanted to put those sites and tools in one list together, because at least for me this field was really unclear – I didn’t know what means Google Pagerank, Alexa, Compete, Technorati rankings and I could continue so on. I must say not always these stats are precise, but however they give at least overview, how popular the certain page is, how many visitors that sites gets – and if You compare those stats with Your site statistics, You can get pretty precise results then.
